PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a man is in custody after criminal damage was found at the summit area of Phoenix’s South Mountain Park.

Phoenix police say 41-year-old Michael Shawn Preston was being held Thursday in a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of commercial burglary, criminal damage and trespassing.

Police say they received a call about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday that someone had damaged electrical panels for the radio/TV transmitters.

Two television stations and several Phoenix radio stations had their broadcasts interrupted.

Police say power junction boxes and other equipment in the fenced area had been manually shut off or damaged, which interrupted broadcasts at the affected stations for about one hour.

Officers reported finding Preston inside a fenced area where “No Trespassing” signs are posted.

It’s unclear if Preston has a lawyer yet.
