LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police have arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a woman near UNLV’s Sam Boyd Stadium.

Police say 30-year-old Brandon Coristine allegedly stabbed the woman during an argument over a cellphone at about 12:02 a.m. Tuesday in the 5900 block of Whitney Avenue.

Police say Coristine fled to a nearby trailer and was taken into custody after a brief-standoff.

He’s been booked into the Clark County jail on one count of suspicion of murder with a deadly weapon.

It’s not clear if Coristine has a lawyer. A police spokesman says he’s still in the booking process and cannot do jailhouse interviews.

The victim’s name has not been released.
