CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (AP) - A man accused of misdemeanor domestic assault has left the Clear Lake police force.

Clear Lake Police Chief Pete Roth said Thursday that 36-year-old Ryan Eskildsen resigned Feb. 10. Eskildsen had been a Clear Lake officer since 2002.

Eskildsen has pleaded not guilty and told the court he intends to claim self-defense at his trial, which is scheduled to begin March 28. Authorities have not released any details about the incident, which occurred Nov. 29 in Clear Lake.
