MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Fire at a condo building in Madison has left one person dead and 11 other residents out of their homes.

Firefighters were called to the building on Madison’s East Side at about 4:45 a.m. Sunday. The fire department says no alarms were sounding and no residents were evacuating the building when firefighters arrived.

No flames could be seen from outside, but a fire was discovered in one of the units.

The Wisconsin State Journal (https://bit.ly/2lzxrMA ) reports the lone occupant of the burning unit died after being brought to UW Hospital.

The American Red Cross is helping the displaced residents find temporary housing. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
