NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) - Police have arrested a Taunton man in connection with the stabbing death last weekend of a homeless man in New Bedford.

The Bristol district attorney says 37-year-old Jorge Arce is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on a charge of murder stemming from the stabbing Sunday of 22-year-old Emmanuel Fuentes.

Arce was arrested Wednesday night by Massachusetts State Police on Route 24 in Bridgewater.

The victim was found on Ashley Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday bleeding profusely. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he died from his injuries about an hour later.

Authorities did not disclose a motive or say what led to Arce as a suspect.

It could not immediately be determined if Arce has a lawyer.
