SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A judge won’t delay a pay-to-play trial for former Utah Attorney General John Swallow or dismiss charges against him.
Judge Elizabeth Hruby-Mills denied Friday a motion from defense attorney Scott Williams, who said he needs more time to review testimony from a prosecution witness.
The request days before the trial that is set to begin Tuesday marks the latest of many attempts from the defense to have charges dropped in the case.
Swallow has pleaded not guilty to 13 charges of bribery, evidence tampering and other crimes.
Williams says claims made by a prosecution witness who testified during a hearing last week were not known to the defense and will require further review.
