HARTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say an 18-year-old man out on bail on a murder charge fired a shot at police officers coming to his Hartsville home to tell him a relative died in a car crash.

Hartsville Police Lt. Mark Blair told WPDE-TV (https://bit.ly/2kR7Xpz ) that Gregorio Brunson was charged with discharging a firearm in city limits Sunday morning.

Blair says Brunson fired one shot from the back of the house as officers approached. No one was hurt.

Court records show Brunson was out of jail on a $50,000 bond for a murder charge. Authorities say he shot a 35-year-old man in the head in early 2016.
