MYRTLE POINT, Ore. (AP) - A 32-year-old Myrtle Point man was charged with attempted murder after a stabbing over the weekend.

The Register Guard reports (https://bit.ly/2mcmtt9 ) that police were called to a home on Saturday on a report of a stabbing.

They found Austin Dale Martin stabbed in the chest and arm. He was hospitalized with serious injuries.



Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier says that police identified the stabbing suspect as Daniel Joe Speaks.

He was found at a mobile home with a superficial knife wound to his leg.

Frasier says Speaks then was taken to jail on charges of attempted murder and first-degree assault. He is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
