WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - An attorney for a man charged in an northeastern Pennsylvania attack on a woman who was stripped, beaten and taken to woods where her throat was slit is blaming his client’s co-defendant.
Thirty-three-year-old Jerone Moore is charged in Luzerne County with attempted murder in the October 2014 attack, which authorities allege stemmed from a missing cellphone.
Defense attorney David Lampman II on Wednesday blamed 27-year-old Nygee Taylor, who pleaded guilty last week to conspiracy to commit murder. He was sentenced to 9½ to 19 years in prison.
Lampman also challenged statements by the victim, who authorities said was stripped, beaten, placed in a barrel for hours and then taken into the woods in Wyoming County’s Bear Creek Township, where her throat was cut and she was found naked and bloody.
