HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - A southern Nevada psychologist charged in the death of his wife is being accused of profiting from her passing.

Attorneys for the family of the late Susan Winters told a judge Tuesday that Gregory “Brent” Dennis has been funding his criminal defense and feeding his “drug-addicted lifestyle” with the nearly $2 million he collected after she died.

The 54-year-old psychologist was charged with murder earlier this month in Winters’ January 2015 death. He is free on a $250,000 bail.

Her death initially was ruled a suicide. Prosecutors say they now believe Dennis poisoned her with a lethal combination of pain pills and anti-freeze.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal (https://bit.ly/2lvAzqj ) reports court documents filed last week claim Dennis spent upward of $10,000 in drugs in the two months following Winters’ death.

Dennis’s attorney declined to comment after Tuesday’s hearing.
