ROXBORO, N.C. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a suspect in a Roxboro man’s shooting death believed to have been an accident.

Local media outlets report a 16-year-old male turned himself in to police on Tuesday and is being charged with first-degree murder.

Police Chief David L. Hess told outlets 20-year-old Cornell Torian was at Longhurst Park on Monday at around 5:30 p.m. when two men started arguing.

Officers say they think shots were fired during the fight, and Torian was hit. Police now say they believe the argument was over tennis shoes and that Torian was an “unintended victim.”
