BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - State Police say a New Jersey teacher had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.
William Jacobs was captured Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Authorities will seek to extradite him to New Jersey, but it’s not clear when that might happen.
The 32-year-old Folsom resident teaches at Buena Regional High School.
State police say Jacobs met with the girl on more than one occasion for sex between last November and January. They also say investigators found several hundred electronic messages between the two.
When Jacobs learned of the investigation into the relationship, he allegedly told the girl not to cooperate with authorities.
Jacobs was charged with official misconduct, sexual assault, child endangerment, tampering with a witness and obstruction of justice. It wasn’t known if he’s retained an attorney.
