ELKINS, W.Va. (AP) - Federal authorities have accused a former jail guard of assaulting and injuring two suspects who were awaiting trial in 2015 at Tygart Valley Regional Jail in Barbour County.

An indictment unsealed Wednesday charges 26-year-old Adam Joseph Neal Graham, of Elkins, with two counts of violating the detainees’ rights and one charge of submitting a fake incident report that one of the detainees attempted to spit on him.

Prosecutors say the assaults occurred on Feb. 15 and March 9 in 2015. The FBI investigated.

A call to Graham’s lawyer was not immediately returned.
