RENO, Nev. (AP) - A third person has announced his plans to run for sheriff of Washoe County, where Nevada’s second-largest metropolitan area is located.
KRNV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2mpfWvs ) that Sherman Boxx says he will run for sheriff in 2018. He most recently served as chief deputy of administration for the sheriff’s office before announcing his retirement in July 2016.
Boxx was also a member of the Sparks Police Department for 26 years. He said in a statement that he believes he can lead the Washoe County sheriff’s office into the future.
Darin Balaam and Kim Meyer have also announced their plans to run for Washoe County sheriff.
Current Sheriff Chuck Allen has said he will not seek re-election.
