NETTLETON, Miss. (AP) - The Nettleton Police Department has new crime-fighting tools - eight new body cameras for its officers.
The cameras cost about $7,000.
WTVA-TV (https://bit.ly/2mfXauf ) reports the department received a grant from the CREATE Foundation to pay for them. The assistant chief says he feels the cameras will help the community, and give the police department an extra set of eyes.
The cameras are set to record 30 seconds, prior to the officer pressing the button to activate them.
Assistant Police Chief Joseph Beasley says multiple things are going on at crime scenes and the cameras can help officers decipher through the chaos to see what might have been missed.
The department currently has 13 officers.
