RIDGEVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina mother and son are dead and three others injured after a vehicle topples off Interstate 26.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said Sunday the crash just after midnight took the lives of 44-year-old Ruth Ruffin of Charleston and her 12-year-old son Eyfinn. Coroners say both victims died from blunt force trauma and their deaths were ruled accidental.

Three others were taken to hospitals for treatment after the crash near Ridgeville.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol tells WCSC (https://bit.ly/2lZKS93) they were in a Ford SUV traveling eastbound on I-26 when it ran off of the right side of the road. The vehicle when down the road embankment, flipped over several times and landed in water.
