SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - Police in Northern California have identified a man and a woman killed in homes miles apart in an apparent double homicide.

Santa Rosa police Sgt. Josh Ludtke said Sunday 57-year-old Dale Carlson’s body was discovered when officers responded to a home Saturday to check on reports of an injured person. Less than two hours later in another house, a resident called police after finding the body of Dale Carlson’s daughter-in-law, Jessica Noel Carlson.

The Santa Rosa Pres Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/2mA255o) Dalton Carlson, the man’s son and woman’s husband, is in custody and a person of interest. The 32-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested Friday on unrelated drug charges near his estranged wife’s home.

Ludtke says investigators have been working nonstop to determine whether Dalton Carlson is responsible.
