DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a three-vehicle crash that left one person dead and five others injured near the Alabama-Florida state line in Geneva County.

News outlets report that 58-year-old Gerald W. Stephenson of Dothan was killed Friday when the pickup truck he was driving was struck by another truck, which was driven by Donald Harry Rhein of Ponce De Leon, Florida.

Alabama State Troopers say an SUV driven by Lindsay T. Sparks of Vernon, Florida, then hit Stephenson’s truck and all three vehicles caught on fire.

Stephenson died at the scene. Rhein was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Sparks and her three passengers were also taken to the hospital with injures.

Trooper Kevin Cook says the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
