ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) - Ithaca College’s incoming president says she looks forward to having discussions on race, college access and class.

Shirley M. Collado was introduced this past week as the ninth president of Ithaca College. She will replace Tom Rochon, who announced his resignation a year ago amid criticism of how he handled racial incidents on the central New York campus.

The Ithaca Journal reports (https://ithacajr.nl/2lSwUWf) that Collado says they are going to be pushing boundaries and setting a national model of what a campus should look like.

Collado currently serves as executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer at Rutgers University-Newark.

She starts in Ithaca on July 1.
