HIGHLAND PARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a New Jersey man has been charged after he sexually assaulted a woman after forcing her into an apartment building at gunpoint while she was walking with a child.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey said Monday that 23-year-old Brandon Cox, of Franklin Township, was charged in the attack that happened Feb. 19 in Highland Park.

Carey says Cox forced the woman into a basement of the apartment at gunpoint, sexually assaulted her and then punched her repeatedly before fleeing.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Cox had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
