VAN, Texas (AP) - Investigators have determined an East Texas man fatally shot his ex-wife and one of their grandchildren before killing himself in an attack at the family’s home.

The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately offer a possible motive for the deaths during a disturbance late Monday afternoon near Van, about 70 miles southeast of Dallas.

Officials on Tuesday identified the victims as 67-year-old Brenda Combs and 20-year-old Fawn Combs. A sheriff’s statement says authorities believe 68-year-old Terry Combs fatally shot his former wife and their granddaughter, then killed himself. All were from Van.

A sheriff’s statement says all three lived in the home, along with two other relatives - who escaped unharmed and summoned help.

Officials say Brenda and Terry Combs still lived at the residence despite being divorced.
