KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) - A Klamath County jury has acquitted a Chiloquin woman on two counts of attempted murder, but found her guilty of lesser charges that will still put her in prison for a minimum of 7 ½ years.
Racina Jean Allen was arrested after two men were stabbed following an argument with her in December 2014. The Herald and News reports (https://is.gd/cBgfpk ) one of the victims required treatment in the intensive-care unit at a Klamath Falls hospital.
Allen’s defense had been prepared to argue she was guilty by reason of insanity or mental defect. After an evaluation at the Oregon State Hospital, she was deemed fit to stand trial.
The jury found Allen guilty of assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Mandatory-sentencing guidelines call for at least 90 months in prison.
Sentencing has been scheduled for March 14.
