CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) - A 24-year-old Mexican national who stabbed his pregnant girlfriend multiple times in an attack in southwest Idaho has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Jose E. Cardenas received the sentence Tuesday in 3rd District Court and must serve eight years before becoming eligible for parole.
Canyon County Prosecutor Bryan Taylor says Cardenas in August lured the woman away from her workplace and stabbed her multiple times while inside her car, then left her for dead on the side of the road.
But she was able to call for help and survived.
Cardenas was arrested and pleaded guilty to felony battery with intent to commit murder.
