BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Federal prosecutor say a western New York businessman who served prison time for bilking investors out of nearly $3 million has been charged with pulling off another scheme.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Buffalo says 53-year-old Robert Logel, of Williamsville, has been charged with wire fraud.

Logel was sentenced in 2009 to four years in federal prison for scamming about $3 million from multiple people in a bogus investment plan. Prosecutors say within months of being released from prison he started a new scheme.

Officials say the latest scheme involved production and sale of skin and health-care products that were never produced. Prosecutors say he found investors whose funds he used for his personal use.

Logel appeared at a detention hearing Tuesday afternoon and was released. It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer.
