PEABODY, Mass. (AP) - Jurors are deliberating in the case of a Peabody man charged with fatally stabbing his girlfriend in their home more than a year ago.
Sixty-year-old Brandon Hoar faces a first-degree murder charge in the June 2015 death of 55-year-old Cheryl Young. Police said they responded to the couple’s home and found Hoar sitting on the front steps. Young was found dead on a living room couch.
Hoar had told investigators he was trying to protect Young’s 5-year-old granddaughter from her. The girl was found unharmed in a bedroom.
The Salem News reports (https://bit.ly/2lnmled ) that the Salem Superior Court jury has heard from Hoar and the now-7-year-old girl.
Jurors deliberated for about four hours Wednesday and will return to court on Friday to resume their work.
