COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in Orange County have recovered several pieces of stolen jewelry, including a $40,000 family heirloom ring from 1892.
Police in Irvine arrested a 27-year-old man last week on suspicion of grand theft after investigators said he never returned rings people entrusted him with for repairs and maintenance.
The Orange County Register says (https://bit.ly/2kSyl6O ) Daniel Cervantes worked under the business names Diamonds Are Forever and Cervantes Jewelers. It wasn’t known if Cervantes has an attorney.
Police say detectives found some pieces including the heirloom ring at a pawn shop in Costa Mesa. The ring’s owner says she cried with relief when she got it back.
