LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Long Beach police say an elderly woman was injured during a robbery at a housing complex for seniors, and detectives are investigating whether it’s connected to a series of break-ins and a sexual assault at the property.

Police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona says officers responding to a “panic alarm” found the injured woman early Thursday. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

Arrona says police are searching for a male suspect and trying to determine if he’s connected to at least four other crimes dating to Feb. 2. Purses, cell phones and cash were taken.

In an incident Sunday a robber sexually assaulted a female resident before fleeing with cash.
