MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A Mobile-area teacher accused of having sex with a student has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.
Former Faith Academy teacher Christina Busby pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor count of third-degree assault.
Authorities dropped more serious charges of being a school employee engaging in sexual activity with a minor. But the lesser charge still carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail.
No sentencing date was set immediately.
The 34-year-old Busby was arrested in August 2015 after a parent at the private, Christian school found out about text messages between the woman and their then-17-year-old son.
