WEST GLACIER, Mont. (AP) - Glacier National Park once again had a record-breaking number of visitors through its gates, this time welcoming just shy of 3 million people.

The Missoulian reports (https://bit.ly/2j7ySkr ) that in 2016 Glacier park saw 2,946,681 people, an increase of more than 580,000 visitors compared to 2015’s record-setting year. In all, the park saw nearly 25 percent more visitors.

In addition to smashing the annual visitation record, Glacier set a number of monthly records throughout 2016, including six in a row between April and September.

Montana’s other national park, Yellowstone, which the state shares with Wyoming and Idaho, also set a visitation record in 2016 with 4.2 million visitors in 2016.
