DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - Morgan County soon will be looking for a new attorney to represent it.

Bill Shinn notified the county commission Monday that he’s retired from practicing law and, as a result, will no longer represent the county as an attorney.

The Decatur Daily reports (https://bit.ly/2iCCVSh ) Shinn has held the post for almost 28 years. In a letter to the commission, he said his retirement was effective Jan. 1.

Shinn is a member of the Harris, Caddell and Shanks law firm, which has been the county’s legal representative for decades. Commission Chairman Ray Long said Tuesday that he will recommend David Langston, also of Harris, Caddell and Shanks, to succeed Shinn. Langston has attended commission meetings for Shinn for about two months.
