IRVING, Texas (AP) - A North Texas man is facing a capital murder charge after being accused by police of throwing a 17-month-old girl across a room, resulting in her death.

Irving police allege 19-year-old Allante Edwards injured the girl while taking care of her on Jan. 4.

Police say Edwards, the live-in boyfriend of the girl’s mother, has confessed to investigators that he threw girl and she never moved or talked again.

Investigators allege Edwards left the girl in her crib for five to six hours before calling 911.

The girl was taken to a Dallas hospital, where she died two days later.

Court records did not list an attorney for Edwards.
