DE QUEEN, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas man charged in the shooting deaths of eight dogs has pleaded not guilty in the case.

The Texarkana Gazette (https://bit.ly/2jEUtxb ) reports 25-year-old Brian Moore of Sevier County is charged in December with eight counts of animal cruelty. His plea was entered by his attorney, Mickey Buchanan, Tuesday.

Court records say the dogs were found at the Horatio home where Moore and his girlfriend lived. Some of the animals had microchips from a Fort Worth, Texas, animal shelter.

According to Buchanan, Moore’s girlfriend rescued the dogs. Buchanan says the animals started biting people and that one even killed a neighbor’s calf.

He says the woman moved to another state and Moore had to put the dogs down because the dogs were becoming dangerous to people.
