YORK, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania teen has pleaded guilty to murder.

The York Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/2inHs9X) Leonard Anthony Green III, who is now 17-years-old, admitted to shooting 17-year-old Patrick Winter in 2014. Green pleaded guilty to several charges including third-degree murder and six counts of reckless endangerment on Wednesday.

Green testified that he fatally shot Winter outside of a party because he believed Winter called him a name. Green said earlier that day he drank alcohol, took the prescription pill Xanax, and smoked synthetic marijuana.

The initial charge of first-degree murder will be dismissed as part of Green’s plea deal.

Green has an open plea and may be sentenced to a maximum of 32 to 64 years. A prior juvenile decertification hearing determined the teen will be tried as an adult.
