ARGO, Ala. (AP) - Alabama State Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 59 North near Argo in Jefferson County.

The crash took place at mile marker 146 Saturday.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/2irTDmj ) the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 20-year-old Jakeel Brown of Forestdale.

Authorities say Brown was accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s house in northeast Jefferson County and shooting her earlier Saturday. The sheriff’s office says Brown was fleeing the scene, when he wrecked his vehicle and then ran on foot on the interstate.

There’s no word on the condition of Brown’s victim.
