TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A Trenton man and his nephew are headed to prison for a shooting that seriously injured a young girl.

Mercer County prosecutors say Jabreel Abdullah and Ali Abdullah opened fire on a parked car with tinted windows in May 2014, unaware that the 9-year-old girl was sitting inside. The girl was shot three times, including once in the leg and once in the shoulder, but has since recovered from her wounds.

A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.

Both men were arrested soon after the shooting and each one eventually pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.

Jabreel Abdullah received a nine-year state prison term, while his nephew got an eight-year term. Ali Abdullah was 17 at the time of the shooting but his case was moved to adult court.
