SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will be among those next month marking 15 years since Salt Lake City hosted the Winter Olympics.

Romney, credited with turning around the scandal-plagued 2002 games, will make an appearance at a Feb. 4 celebration at the Nordic Center on the Solider Hollow resort in Midway.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/2iEV0BC ) Romney will also attend a private party at the Alf Engen Ski Museum in Park City for those who worked on the 2002 games.

Romney was hired to lead the Salt Lake Olympic Committee after a bribery scandal threatened the games. The former Massachusetts governor now lives in Utah with his family.

Soldier Hollow and two other Olympic venues in Utah will celebrate the 2002 games with an athlete meet-and-greet and by hosting freestyle and Nordic skiing championships.
