4:50 p.m.

Police say a 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in his Scottsdale home.

In a statement issued Monday, police said Anthony David Stephens was arrested on first-degree murder and burglary charges linked to the death of Charles Jackson Sr., 58.

Detectives say they believe Jackson was killed in a burglary in his home. They spoke with residents in the neighborhood and got surveillance video of a suspicious person.

Police say the detectives worked with officers in the Mesa Police Department and determined that Stephens was a person of interest in the case.

Police say that after discovering Stephens had been arrested in Mesa for trespassing within hours of the killing of Jackson, they questioned Stephens and then arrested him on the murder and burglary charges.
