MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) - A former high school teacher has admitted trading sexually explicit texts with a male student.

Jenna Leahey pleaded guilty to a child endangerment charge on Tuesday, the day jury selection was due to begin in her trial.

Prosecutors will seek a five-year prison term when she’s sentenced March 2. Leahey also will have to register as a sex offender and will surrender her teaching certificate.

The 35-year-old resident had also faced official misconduct and sex assault charges stemming from alleged relationship with a 16-year-old boy in 2013. The teen was not a student of Leahey’s at the time, but had been in the previous school year.

Leahey admitted sharing the texts with the teen but did not admit to any physical contact with him.
