WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - The daughter of GOP Maine Gov. Paul LePage is in the running for a seat on the City Council of a city where her dad served as mayor.

The Morning Sentinel (https://bit.ly/2jV28ri ) reports Lauren LePage is among four vying for the open seat in Waterville.

Councilors are expected to interview Lauren LePage and candidates Todd Martin, Winifred Tate and George Weber in open session Tuesday night. The city manager says councilors will then appoint one of the candidates.

Lauren LePage is in her final year at University of Maine School of Law. She also worked as Maine coalitions director for President-elect Donald Trump. The Maine Republican Party named her to its “40 under 40” list in 2015.

Paul LePage also served as a City Council member in Waterville, and later mayor.
