ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A 23-year-old man has been charged with killing his mother’s boyfriend at an Anchorage hotel.

Elliot Myas is charged with manslaughter and felony assault in the death of the man, whose identity has not been released.

Anchorage police just after 6 a.m. Monday took a call from a woman who could not wake up her boyfriend in a room at the Econo Inn on east Fifth Avenue. Responding officers determined the man had died.

The couple and others Sunday had gathered in the hotel room to watch football.

Police say the man made fun of his girlfriend, and after he went to sleep, was beaten by Myas, the woman’s son.

Online court records do not list an attorney for Myas. He remained in custody Tuesday at the Anchorage jail.
