PHOENIX (AP) - A suspect is being held without bond in the shooting death of a Scottsdale man last weekend.

Authorities say Anthony David Stephens had his initial court appearance Tuesday. He doesn’t have an attorney yet.

The 28-year-old Stephens was arrested Monday on suspicion of first-degree murder and burglary charges linked to the death of Charles Jackson Sr.

Scottsdale police say they believe the 58-year-old Jackson was killed in a burglary in his home late Sunday.

Investigators say Jackson died as a result of a gunshot wound.

Police spoke with residents in the neighborhood and got surveillance video of a suspicious person.

After discovering Stephens had been arrested in Mesa for trespassing within hours of the killing of Jackson, they questioned Stephens and then arrested him on the murder and burglary charges.
