CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Putnam County man has entered a plea to a murder charge in a woman’s shooting death.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail (https://bit.ly/2jtzVeB ) reports 34-year-old Philip David Casto made a Kennedy plea Tuesday in Putnam County Circuit Court in the September 2015 death of 27-year-old Jennifer Evans. Her body was found in her Hurricane-area home.

Under the Kennedy rule, a defendant doesn’t admit guilt.

The day after Evans‘ body was found, Casto was arrested at a mall in Braintree, Massachusetts.

At his preliminary hearing in October, prosecutors presented evidence suggesting that Evans had asked Casto to cease contact with her. Evans had sent a text message to her husband on the day of her death indicating that Casto had visited the home. Her husband went home and discovered her body.

Sentencing is set for March 30.
