FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - A series of storms that may drop significant snowfall on higher terrain is expected to roll across Arizona starting Thursday and continue into early next week in some areas.

Authorities say drivers may encounter hazardous conditions, including gusty winds, reduced visibility and blowing and drifting snow.

A winter storm watch issued for high country in eastern and northern New Mexico says light snow will spread west to east Thursday and become heavier Thursday night before tapering off much of Friday. A second storm will drop moderate to heavy snow late Friday. A third storm is expected Monday.

The first storm is expected to drop moderate snow late Thursday and early Friday in higher elevations of southern Arizona, followed by the second storm late Friday and continuing through Saturday morning.
