AURORA, Colo. (AP) - A man who fatally struck his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter in Aurora has been sentenced to 48 years in prison.

The Aurora Sentinel reports (https://goo.gl/CyHe5N ) 26-year-old Shane Campbell was sentenced Wednesday for the July 2015 death of Angel Bailey. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Investigators say a police officer called to the apartment where the girl was hit overheard Campbell say he had never struck the child that hard before. Campbell later told police he hit Angel because he was mad at her for soiling herself.

The girl immediately had a seizure after she was struck.
