MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - Grand jurors are complaining about what they describe as horrible conditions in an aged courthouse in east Mississippi.

The Meridian Star (https://bit.ly/2jgizye ) reports that a report by grand jurors in Lauderdale County describes bad smells and odors inside the courthouse in Meridian.

The report calls the building “unrespectable” and says a light is about to fall in a main courtroom. It says plumbing is in poor condition, and a grand juror had problems with her allergies because of mold and dust.

The report says the county jail also has problems, with broken windows and heating and air-conditioning systems that need work.

The report comes as the county is considering solutions to problems with the 112-year-old courthouse. The potential solutions range in cost from $31 million to nearly $47 million.
