LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say the employee of a jewelry store southeast of Las Vegas who died after an attempted armed robbery was shot by a security guard who tried to aim for the suspect but missed.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2iSXRZr ) that the 57-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in critical conditions after the Saturday night incident and later died. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

Police say a man broke into the jewelry store in Henderson and brandished a gun.

A security guard inside the store tried to shoot him but accidentally struck the employee.

The robbery suspect has not yet been located.

Police say he will face murder charges and the security guard will not be charged with a crime for the accidental shooting.
