OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the life prison sentence of a 61-year-old man in the fatal shooting of another man in a road rage dispute outside a Target store in Oklahoma City.
The court handed down the decision Tuesday in the case of David E. Bloebaum, who was convicted by an Oklahoma County jury of first-degree murder in the Sept. 28, 2012, killing of 28-year-old Jasen Yousif of Edmond. Bloebaum was also convicted of carrying a firearm unlawfully.
Defense attorneys at Bloebaum’s 2014 trial claimed that the victim’s death was a case of self-defense. Police say both men had been driving aggressively and that one appeared to be chasing the other prior to the shooting.
Bloebaum’s attorney, Assistant Public Defender Marva Banks, declined comment on the ruling.
