MOUNT VERNON, Mo. (AP) - Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating two possible homicides in unrelated shootings on the same day.
The sheriff’s department says officers responded Monday evening when someone reported finding a body in a home outside of Aurora. The victim, 82-year-old Nolan Karch, of Aurora, apparently suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
KYTV reports (https://bit.ly/2i6AkQ7 ) the sheriff’s department received another call less than an hour later that someone had been shot at a home near Mount Vernon.
Officers found 44-year-old Rhonda Hood at the home, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
Sheriff Brad Delay says the shootings are not related and there is no need for public alarm from either shooting.
One person was arrested on unrelated charges in the Mount Vernon shooting. No arrests have been made in the Aurora shooting.
