JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Police in New Jersey are investigating after a loaded gun was found underneath debris outside the State Office Building in Jersey City on New Year’s Day.
NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/2iD74UC ) a maintenance worker was cleaning outside the Summit Avenue building when he found the gun underneath a utility glove on the ground around 1 p.m. Sunday.
The worker brought the gun and glove to security, who notified police.
Police say the weapon was found near the building’s parking lot. The maintenance worker told officers that it had been about three weeks since he last worked in that area.
The firearm was reported stolen from a local residence in April 2016.
No arrests have been made in connection with the discovery.
