WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - A 16-year-old Utah boy remains partially paralyzed after he was shot last week in a gang-related incident in West Valley City.

West Valley police announced Saturday four adults and two juveniles had been arrested in connection with Thursday’s shooting.

The Deseret News reported late Sunday (https://tinyurl.com/zm89gqk) that one of the suspects told police they were targeting a specific individual to send them a message.

Jail booking records show the male victim was shot in the back, resulting in serious bodily injury that has left him paralyzed below the waist.

The adult suspects who were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail were identified as 19-year-old Kevin Henriquez-Chavarria, 18-year-old Gerson Mursia-Morales, 18-year-old Carlos Valentin and 19-year-old Juan Jose Espina, 19.
